Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno was scheduled to make his first appearance before the media since this weekend’s news that implicates a number of university officials in the cover up of a child sex abuse scandal. His press conference, originally scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, has been cancelled.

Reports broke Saturday evening that former champ and all-time great has been taken to a Philadelphia-area hospice facility, and is in the final stages of an aggressive form of liver cancer.

After talks finally looked to be heading in a positive direction after multiple day-long meetings, commissioner David Stern announced Friday evening that the season the 2011-2012 season has been cancelled through November 30th. Any of the hope generated earlier this week that league might find a way to conduct a full 82-game season is now officially squashed.

During his Monday morning MAC coaches teleconference, Addazio spoke out on both the loss and the questions surrounding the team’s passing game.
