The Flyers had nothing to play for short of potentially costing the Bruins a Northeast Division banner. Seemed like motivation enough. In yet another “where was this all year?” effort, the Flyers handled the Bruins 5-2 Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center thanks to three great plays from Matt Read, Jake Voracek and Claude Giroux and one not-so-great play from Zdeno Chara.

Do you worry about Ryan Howard every time you watch him run? Apparently there’s a coach in the National League who does.

The last time he faced the Phillies, Jeremy Hefner gave up six runs and never recorded an out. On Wednesday night, the Mets starter was tagged for two homers in the first inning. Chase Utley went to dead-away center and Dom Brown to the second deck in right. It was part of a five-run first that sent the Phillies on their way to a 7-3 win and their first series win of the season.

Win three games and advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 58 years, get one clip (the wrong one). Win two games and boast the leading scorer of the tournament, get zero clips. Win zero games, get two clips.
Apparently the less you do in the tournament, the more times you get in ‘One Shining Moment,’ and vice versa. Looking at you, ‘Nova.

Roy Halladay gets his first shot to shake off his scary spring when he and the Phillies face Paul Malholm and the Braves at 7:10 p.m. (MyPHL17). In a perfect world, he breaks eight or nine faces and is back in time to hit up the zoo with the penguin in the morning.

The Sixers on Monday made official their decision to call up Justin Holiday from the D-League and waived Jeremy Pargo. As such, here’s a video from March 7 of Holiday straight messing up the Reno Bighorns’ entire night.

This now marks the third season that the Mets have lost a starting pitcher for the entire season — Santana (2011), Mike Pelfrey (2012), Santana (2013) — before they could even make it out of the month of April.

In a lot of ways, La Salle fans won out just by seeing their team get as far as it did for the first time in nearly six decades. A memorable Big 5 run has reached its end.

Less than two weeks ago, we were sitting around watching conference championship games rooting for other teams to lose so that La Salle might make it to the First Four. Tip off between the 13th-seeded La Salle Explorers and Wichita State Shockers for the opportunity to advance to the Elite Eight is scheduled for 10:17 this evening and can be seen on TBS.

Chances are that you know very little about Wichita State and not the basketball team, the actual university. Consequently, we’ve prepared a fact sheet based mostly off what we found on Wikipedia, the universities’ websites, Forbes, and the National Center for Education Statistics.

He exhibits the on-court demeanor of a borderline sociopath, shoots with no regard for efficiency, openly shit talks opposing players and coaches, and looks like Sid from Toy Story. He’s Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson and he’s playing the La Salle Explorers on Sunday.

Want a quick summation of everything wrong with the Flyers? Boom.
Mar 20, 2013, 12:10 PM EDT
They come from the two best mid-major conferences in the country. They received bids over schools from BCS conferences with (arguably) better resumes (Tennessee, Virginia). They have little-to-no recent NCAA tournament history. They both play four guards (sometimes even five) guards. There’s a lot of similarities between La Salle and Boise State ahead of their first-round/play-in game at 9:10 p.m. this evening in Dayton, Ohio.
