    Mar 3, 2005, 1:57 PM EDT

Celtics get Payton Back: Insider info: “at the LM sales rally today, Joe Joe White and Doc Rivers both spoke. Doc confirmed that Gary Payton is coming back to Boston. Both he and his agent have committed to it, they’re just waiting for his name on the dotted line.” That trade was a steal for…

  2. Not much happening in FA

    Mar 3, 2005, 1:36 PM EDT

Not much happening in FA with the Eagles. There is word that they signed Hugh Douglas to the Vet. minimum. And also that Trot’s physical in K.C. wasn’t perfect.. they may be worried about his knees. I think Randy Moss will look good in Oakland Black.

  3. Mo Cheeks gets pink slip

    Mar 3, 2005, 8:01 AM EDT

One of my all time favorite Philadelphia athletes got fired yesterday.  Mo Cheeks is the now former coach of the Portland Trailblazers. I hope he ends up in the Sixer organization at some point, maybe as an assistant coach and eventually taking over the head role someday. I remember watching some sort of video of…

  4. Only in Pennsylvania

    Mar 3, 2005, 2:15 AM EDT

This story does not appear in The Onion, but rather over at ESPN.com.  Those friggin’ sports parents and their ordered hits.  They need to watch some more mob movies to learn how to get a job done right. In all seriousness, this is completely nuts: UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A T-ball coach charged with offering a…

  5. Eagles Update: late wed. night

    Mar 2, 2005, 11:45 PM EDT

Day 1 of Free Agency is over and the Eagles remained quiet.  The only notable move included resigning oft injured RB Correll Buckhalter.  On the Trotter front, Mort on ESPN just took back what he said about a deal with Trotter in KC almost being done.  He said Trotter was in KC but there was…

  6. No news is bad news..

    Mar 2, 2005, 11:25 AM EDT

Today is the first day of free agency in the NFL and the Eagles haven’t signed anyone yet.. including Trotter. In other news Frank Stowman had an amazing 22 points and 407 rebounds last night in a pickup game at St. Pious gymnasium. If you are really bored and need some news to keep you…

  7. A.I. blows up for 48

    Mar 2, 2005, 12:27 AM EDT

On Chris Webber’s 32nd birthday it was Allen Iverson who was having all the fun.  While Webber was in foul trouble all night and eventually fouled out, Iverson had 45 by the end of the third and finished with 48. The Bucks were down by at least 20 but managed to fight back to make…

  8. Rumor: Eagles could go after Najeh Davenport

    Mar 1, 2005, 12:33 PM EDT

While the Eagles are busy trying to keep Trotter and Westbrook in Eagles green, there are some rumors floating around that the Eagles may go after Green Bay free agent RB Najeh Davenport.  A Green Bay online newspaper reported that the Pack only tendered Najeh with the lowest possible contract they could offer, which means…

  9. Jimmy Buffett to play CBP

    Mar 1, 2005, 11:48 AM EDT

I’m not really buying into Mr. Cheeseburger in Paradise as a curse breaker, but a concert at the ballpark could be a good time. Link: Philadelphia Inquirer | 03/01/2005 | Inqlings | Some people claim Buffett wins game. Jimmy Buffett will play the first concerts ever at Citizens Bank Park. He’s booked for Aug. 25…

  11. Watch: Interview with Jon Lieber

    Mar 1, 2005, 8:34 AM EDT

Jon Lieber thinks the Phillies are a "special team."  You can watch Lieber do an interview with Foxsports.com talking about a range of things from adjusting to a new ballpark and a new league.  In other Spring Training news, Pat Burrell needs a haircut bad.  I think he is going for the David Bell look…

  12. We talkin’ bout Practice: Part 32

    Feb 28, 2005, 11:52 AM EDT

A.I. is now looking forward to come to practice.  Oh how far he has come since infamous press conference in 2002 when "we talkin’ bout practice, not the game, we talkin’ bout practice." Who knows what will become of the Sixers this season, but it is definitely exciting to see A.I. this excited about playing…

  13. Source: McNabb was hurt

    Feb 28, 2005, 10:07 AM EDT

This article claims McNabb was really hurt from a hit by Brushci.  Why did it take a month to learn this? Link: Philadelphia Inquirer | 02/28/2005 | McNabb was injured, sources say. It was a hit by linebacker Tedy Bruschi that left quarterback Donovan McNabb gasping for air at a time when the Eagles were…

  14. Iggy gets watch for number

    Feb 28, 2005, 8:32 AM EDT

I don’t think a "fashionable watch" is enough detail for us.  Is it iced out?  Is it worth more than my car?  We need more details than this.  The people want to know. Link: Philadelphia Daily News | 02/28/2005 | Webber has Iguodala’s number, and is grateful. When rookie Andre Iguodala gave up his No.…

  15. Live Blogging the Oscars or whatever else is on TV tonight

    Feb 28, 2005, 12:02 AM EDT

6:31 – Beyonce was just on the Style Channel walking down the red carpet.  She is hot.  Yeah, I had the Style Channel on.6:40 – It is "ESPN: The Weekend" on ESPN, doing all their shows from Disney world. I don’t get it really. I guess Disney is hurting for reasons for people to visit.…

  16. Sixers come up short with CWebb

    Feb 27, 2005, 2:37 PM EDT

The Sixers seemed to dominate the Kings early and were off to a fast start with their new lineup of Sammy, Korver, A.I., CWebb, and Iggy.  The Kings battled back and eventually ruined CWebb’s first game as a Sixer.  Former Sixer Corliss Williamson played really well for the Kings throwing in 17 points on 7…

  17. Rumor: Eagles interested in Mason

    Feb 27, 2005, 7:21 AM EDT

With Muhsin Muhammad, who many Eagles fans wanted, signing with the Bears yesterday, the next FA WR out there is Derrick Mason.  Marc Eckel was talking about this yesterday on 610 as well.  Mason is a great veteran receiver and would be a huge upgrade over FredEx/Pinky.  Link: Rumor: Eagles Interested in Ex-Titan? Terry McCormick…

  19. Chaney gets what he deserves

    Feb 25, 2005, 3:16 PM EDT

Temple coach John Chaney got what he deserved in this one.  He tried to suspend himself, whatever that means, for one game after sending in a "goon" to committ hard fouls in a loss to St. Joes.  His goon ended up breaking bones and ending people’s college career.  Chaney = very little class left, if…

  20. 2005 Sportsman of the Year: Terrell Owens

    Feb 25, 2005, 12:25 PM EDT

With the year coming to an end, I thought I would look back on 2005 in terms of Philly sports and pick a sportsman of the year.  It was a year that had  its highs and mostly lows, but through it all we always had Terrell to talk about.  In Philly, with the lack of…

  21. Howard learning to play OF to make team

    Feb 25, 2005, 8:33 AM EDT

With Jim Thome playing first base, it seems almost impossible for the talented Ryan Howard to make the Phillies squad this year.  The Solution?  Teach him to play the outfield.  I hope he can adjust because he could be a great bat to have on the bench. Link: Philadelphia Inquirer | 02/25/2005 | Phillies, Howard…

  22. Mike Tyson Christmas Video

    Feb 24, 2005, 2:33 PM EDT

No better way to celebrate your Christmas than with everyone’s favorite tattoo faced boxer Mike Tyson singing Christmas songs. The website that the video is on is a little weird but just wait for the video to load. If that isn’t your style, feel free to download my Christmas mix.  Perfect for your holiday parties.

  23. Big Dog for Mashburn and Rodgers: Official

    Feb 24, 2005, 12:37 PM EDT

ESPN is reporting that Glenn Robinson has been traded to Charlotte for Mashburn and Rodgers.  This is a little disapointing compared to what they did last night.  We will see what happens.

  24. Eagles cut Nate Wayne, tender BWest

    Feb 24, 2005, 11:43 AM EDT

Just reported that the Eagles cut Nate Wayne.  Not a real surprising move, this gives them more room to work with in bringing back Trot, Adams, even Ike Reese and some of their other FAs.  They also tendered Westbrook yesterday.  This link explains exactly what that means.
