Big John and Shane! Power Another Thrilling Late-Inning Win

Aug 2, 2011, 12:04 AM EDT

How can you not love the fight in this Phillies team? Down to their final strike in the ninth inning, John Mayberry delivered...

Down to one strike after a frustrating night at the dish, the Phillies once again found a way. They seem pretty damn good at that these days, don’t they? Wow.

John Mayberry Jr. came up to pinch hit in the ninth inning with two outs and Carlos Ruiz on the pond with the Phillies trailing by two. Big John worked an impressive at bat, fouling off a couple of pitches and laying off some nasty Huston Street slide pieces.

Mayberry finally bashed a 3-2 pitch deep into the left field bleachers to tie the game and keep the Phillies alive. [video]

Shane Victorino delivered in dramatic fashion an inning later with a no-doubter of his own complete with a hop step and bat flip. [video]

Swag. [Scott Franzke's radio call of Mayberry's homer below]
