Brett Myers is a Closer Again

The Houston Astros had the worst save percentage in all of baseball in 2011. They failed to really address the position during this past offseason, perhaps because they had one of their own in mind.

Today, the Astros named Brett Myers to be the team's closer in 2012. You likely remember Myers getting to handle closer duties for the Phillies to mixed results. He talked to MLB.com about the move this season:

"I wouldn't accept it if I didn't think I could do it, but it's going to
be a challenge for me because it's something different," he said. "It's
like a position change for me. It's like taking a first baseman and
moving him to third. I'm going to have to work a little harder to get my
arm in shape to throw 20 or 25 pitches a night. Hopefully, it will be
good for the team and good for the organization."

Now that they've got a closer they need to figure out how to fill the big hole in the rotation that Myers leaves.
