Chooch Should Be an All Star, So Make That Happen

Share

Carlos Ruiz has never been on the All Star team, and it feels wrong just typing that. You should probably correct this problem.

In the midst of what looks to be turning into a career year, Ruiz is having by far the best season of any catcher in the National League so far. Some nights, it seems he's the only thing holding the Phillies together.

Ruiz is fourth on the club in runs scored (15), tied for third in hits (32), tied for first in extra-base hits (13), second in home runs (6), and second in RBIs (22). He leads the team in batting average (.340) and OPS (.987), numbers that are good for sixth and ninth overall in the NL in those respective categories.

Let's not forget his defensive contributions. Besides handling one of the most dominant pitching staffs in Major League Baseball, Chooch has been shutting down would-be base stealers. He's already caught 11, third-most in the NL.

So what are you waiting for? Here's the link. Vote for Chooch already, would ya?
