You probably don't want to watch the above "highlight" video from last night's 1-0 loss to the Braves. It's basically Julio Teheran manhandling the Phillies.

Put it this way, when a Ryan Howard infield single is one of the highlights of the Phils' night at the plate, it was not a pretty night.

Cliff Lee was pretty darn good though.

His line: 11 hits, 1 walk, 13 strikeouts, good for 1 earned run over 9.0 innings of work. Dude got himself out of some jams and struckout thirteen Braves. Thirteen. But it was one questionable pitch to that damn Evan Gatis that juuuust went over the wall in left and cost the Phils the game.

Teheran was simply better. He was nasty. The Braves pitcher also pitched all nine innings on Wednesday night but didn't allow the Phillies to put any runs on the board and only gave up three stinking hits all night.

After the game Lee said he felt his performance should have been enough to get the team a win:

“I felt like I did what I needed to do, you’ve got to give credit to the opposing pitcher,” Lee said. “We didn’t score, he shut us out, so he was obviously doing something right.”

Lee became the first pitcher in major-league history to lose two games in which he struck out 13 or more batters and allowed one run. Those two games are his last two starts against the Braves -- last Sept. 27 in Atlanta and Wednesday night. In those two games, Lee pitched 17 innings, struck out 26, walked one and lost both.

That's rough.

The Phils are back at it today in a 1:05 start. A.J. Burnett takes on Alex Wood. One thing is certain: the Phils are going to have to score more runs if they want to avoid the abbreviated 3-game sweep.
