Dueling Aces: Halladay Faces the Fish; Howard Update

Share

It's not often a Roy Halladay start takes second billing in Philadelphia -- and we all know what happened last time he and Josh Johnson faced off in the same time slot as a Flyers playoff game -- but despite not being the marquee game on most of your television sets this evening, it is an important one for Charlie Manuel's club.

They're lone win of the season came on opening day when Halladay threw a gem against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They may need another tonight if they want to add to the win column as the offense has been sputtering out of the gate and the bullpen hasn't fared much better.

In addition to the formidable Johnson on the hill, the Marlins also bring a more potent offense than they put out on the field on Monday. Mike Stanton, now known as Giancarlo Stanton, returns to the lineup for the Fish. He hurts baseballs.

If they drop another game tonight the Phils would fall to 1-4 while a win would bring them only one game below .500 with Cliff Lee tossing tomorrow.

Charlie Manuel is going with yet another new lineup: 1. Pierre, 2. Polanco, 3. Rollins, 4. Pence, 5. Victorino, 6. Mayberry (1B), 7. Ruiz, 8. Galvis, 9. Halladay.

First pitch scheduled for shortly after 7:05. Let's go Phillies/Flyers/Sixers.
