For Sale: The Fish in the Miami Marlins' Tank Update: Giancarlo Stanton Not Happy

Share

The Miami Marlins started to blow things up in the middle of the 2012 campaign by dealing Hanley Ramirez to the Dodgers. They proceeded to get out the C4 this evening and finished the job by shipping Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, and Mark Buerhle to the Toronto Blue Jays for some quality young talent. At least that's the word on Twitter according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Presumably, the fish in the tank behind home plate down in Miami are on the market as well.

That would make one fan a bit unhappy.

Seriously though, don't look for the Marlins to be a serious contender in the East any time soon. It sucks to own a baseball franchise in place where nobody cares about baseball, doesn't it? I'd still go swimming in that outfield pool though.

UPDATE: Here's the actual deal. The Marlins send Reyes, Johnson, Buehrle, catcher John Buck, and utility man Emilio Bonifacio for shortstop Yunel Escobar, starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez, catcher Jeff Mathis, and three quality prospects. The deal is not final, and is subject to Major League Baseball approval, but it appears this is actually happening.

>>>In an update, Giancarlo Stanton isn't thrilled:
