Hopefully you're not tailgating outside CBP right now

The Phillies didn't waste any time in postponing today's scheduled home opener against the Brewers at 3:05 pm and moving it to Tuesday at 4:05 pm instead due to the weather forecast calling for rain all day long. The fact that they made the call over 24 hours in advance gave fans plenty of time to make adjusted plans.

I wouldn't be surprised if some unprepared fans didn't get the memo and end up drinking in the rain. Could be worse problems to have though, I suppose.

The change does impact the Phillies starting rotation as they'll need a fifth starter earlier than planned since Kyle Kendrick will pitch in the home opener on Tuesday instead of Monday. That means the Phils will need a fifth guy on Saturday.

David Murphy writing at the Daily News points to Jonathan Pettibone as the logical choice over David Buchanan given the circumstances:

Pettibone has a couple of things going for him. First and foremost, he is familiar, having made 18 starts for the Phillies last season, during which time they went 10-8. Second, he is on the 40-man roster, and David Buchanan is not, and the 40-man roster is full. The fact that Pettibone pitched yesterday means he could start on Saturday on normal rest (plus an extra day). All of those conveniences could very well prompt the Phillies to bring up Pettibone, who would then face the Braves in Philly on Thursday, the Dodgers in Los Angeles on April 22, and the Diamondbacks in Arizona on April 27. At that point, Cole Hamels is expected to rejoin the rotation.

The Phils return home with a 3-3 record that places them down towards the bottom of the NL East after dropping a series in Texas and taking one in Chicago.

Hopefully you have a cool boss and he'll let you swap your half day on Monday for a halfday on Tuesday. Or maybe you're still a lucky college kid and can take off whenever you want.

The Phils will throw the first pitch at Citizens Bank Park this year shortly after 4:05 pm on Tuesday.
