Phillies rained out, miss deGrom, head home after disappointing trip

The Phillies' scheduled game against the New York Mets on Thursday afternoon was rained out.

It will be made up as part of a doubleheader June 25 at Citi Field.

The Phillies head home to face the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park on Friday night. Zach Eflin, who had been scheduled to pitch Thursday in New York, will get the start.

The Phillies had been scheduled to face two-time Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom before the rainout. The Phils lost the first three games of the series to the Mets and scored just four runs so missing deGrom isn't a bad thing.

The Phils went 1-5 on the road trip to Atlanta and New York. They are 6-6 on the season.

The Cardinals have lost four of their last five games and are also 6-6.

Here are the pitching matchups for the series:

Friday night: RHP Zach Eflin (0-0, 3.46) vs. RHP Carlos Martinez (0-2, 6.30)

Saturday afternoon: LHP Matt Moore (0-0, 7.65) vs. Kwang Hyun Kim (NR)

Sunday afternoon: Aaron Nola (0-1, 3.45) vs. RHP John Gant (0-0, 3.00)
