Ahead of their series with the Phillies that begins tonight, Newsweek asks whether Mets fans have already given up on 2012.

The New York Mets began the 2012 season on a four-game winning streak, fueled by a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves. But following back-to-back losses to the Washington Nationals, and with their first series against the Phillies beginning tonight, the local media is already posing the question whether or not their fans have lost hope, resigning themselves to another season in the NL East’s basement.
All of which leads us to wonder: Mets fans entertained any other thoughts about the team’s chances entering this season?
