Phillies Need to Catch Fire Starting This Evening in Flushing

After getting an unexpected night off in the Big Apple on Tuesday, the Phillies will lose their scheduled off day tomorrow and finish out their series with the Mets on Thursday. Cole Hamels will pitch this evening as he was previously scheduled to do with Tyler Cloyd instead jumping from yesterday to Thursday.

With both the Cardinals and Brewers playing well as of late, the Phillies are really going to have to get red-hot ridiculous if they want a legit shot at the post season. Not likely to happen, but they still have to play them.

Hamels (15-6, 3.06) will take on right-hander Matt Harvey (3-5, 2.92) this evening. Hamels can set a new single-season career high in wins if he can notch one more on the year. As for the Mets' rookie Harvey, he's been very consistent in 9 appearances this season, lasting at least 5.0 innings in every start. He beat the Phillies back on August 29th at CBP on 6.1 IP, 2 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, and 6 Ks.
