I don't know if there are any jokes left about the Phillies adding older players.
We'll just pass this report along: according to CSN's Jim Salisbury, the Phillies are "sniffing around" on former Phillies outfielder Bobby Abreu to potentially fill a need for a lefty bat off the bench.
Abreu has been working hard in the Venezuelan league in an attempt to make a return to MLB:

Abreu spent nine of his 17 big-league seasons with the Phillies before sitting out last season. He hit .322 with three homers, 28 RBIs and a .877 OPS in 50 games in the Venezuelan league this winter and is looking to make a comeback in the majors.
While Abreu is just the latest in a long line of underwhelming players linked to Ruben Amaro and the Phils, Bill Baer over at Crashburn Alley opines today that despite mostly underwhelming moves this offseason, Amaro's decisions have been "relatively good" given the fact they don't hamper the team in the long term.
You can't say the 2014 Phillies won't be interesting.
Seriously, Abreu would be a perfectly fine choice if it weren't for the 625 other old guys.
