Polanco Given Dreaded ‘Sports Hernia' Diagnosis, May Play Through It

The news coming out of the Placido Polanco doctor's visit could've been a lot worse, but no one in Philadelphia will be too thrilled with the words "sports hernia" being applied to another local athlete. Jim Salisbury says that for the time being, Polly won't head to the DL, and he'll get an anti-inflammatory injection on Tuesday, then be re-evaluated on Friday to see if he can play through it. If not, surgical repair could sideline him up to a month.

Michael Martinez started at third on Monday night, and he'll man the hot corner along with Wilson Valdez while Polanco is out, unless Ruben goes 3B hunting...
