Quotable: Charlie On Polly's Elbow

Share

The Phillies jumped all over Tim Lincecum early in the first inning and Roy Halladay had a four run lead to work with before he even stepped on the mound as a result. You know what that means. The Phillies kicked off their 10-day road swing with a win on Monday night in San Francisco.

Halladay had to work for it early but cruised through a couple of low-pitch late innings to finish eight strong before handing it over to Jonathan Papelbon who shut the door. Lincecum also settled down after the rocky first but the Giants could never really mount a comeback.

One scary moment came when Placido Polanco got hit in his previously injured elbow by reliever Dan Otero in the sixth inning.

Philadelphia Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel had a most Charlie Manuel quote when asked about Polly's elbow.

"That's one of his main elbows," Charlie said.

That's according to Phillies beat writer David Hale who also added that Polly should be fine.

It's obviously paramount that your third baseman have a healthy main elbow.
