Quotable: Lidge Had Hoped to Return to Philadelphia

Through his incredible highs and cringe-worthy lows during his time in Philadelphia, Brad Lidge was a class act through it all. So it's no surprise he will depart our city in the most gracious of fashions.

"I'd thank every fan personally if I could," Lidge told the Daily News' David Murphy.

Lidge also shared that he thought he would have the option to return to Philadelphia, but things didn't work out that way.

"It was fairly surprising and disappointing," he said. "We were upset about it for a little bit. It's frustrating but its part of the business. They used their judgment and wanted to move on and I respect that, but obvious (sic) I thought we'd be able to come back."

"I'm real attached to the city. I've grown to love it, so yeah, it will be tough, but it's part of the business."
