Report: Phillies Eyeing Michael Cuddyer

After the Phillies ink first baseman Jim Thome once he passes his physical on Saturday, they could be eyeing his former Twins teammate, the versatile Michael Cuddyer. All this according to Phillies beat writer Jim Salisbury.

Cuddyer's ability to play the outfield, first, and third, makes him a hot candidate for the Phils who could have issues with all of those positions next season. Sully's report adds that, "He and Thome are good friends so signing Thome could help the Phils in their quest to land Cuddyer."

Here's video of Sully talking about the Thome deal and the possibility of Cuddyer coming to town. He notes that Thome really won't be able to play much first base and he'll likely be used solely as a bench guy, but adds that he could be used defensively in an emergency type situation.
