Jayson Stark reaffirms what most following the Phillies believed, that Placido Polanco would only possibly be dealt if Jimmy Rollins doesn’t return to Philadelphia. He writes:

The Phillies are feeling out other teams’ interest in third baseman Placido Polanco, but are only interested in trading Polanco if they can’t re-sign free-agent shortstop Jimmy Rollins, sources told ESPN.com Tuesday.

The idea seems to be: if they can’t resign Jimmy, they then could make a play for Aramis Ramirez to play third and add some pop, try and trade Polanco, and go with either Freddy Galvis or one of the cheaper available shortstops on the market (Omar Vizquel?) until Galvis is ready.
