That Time Charlie Manuel Compared Dom Brown to a Horse

Share

Dom Brown killed another baseball on Saturday against the New York Yankees down in Florida. It was
his fourth home run of the spring. Brown's work at the plate has put him
in the front of Charlie Manuel's mind when it comes to this year's
starting right fielder.

Jim Salisbury has a quick piece on Brown's big day with a couple of nice Manuel quotes on his potential starting right fielder. My fave, on Dom being the frontrunner for starting RF on opening day:

“I’d say right now he’s got the lead,” Manuel said. “Kind of like Smarty Jones or something out front. Big Brown out front.”

God, I love Chuck. Let's just hope he's talking about the first two legs of the Triple Crown.

And:

“His hitting is real good,” Manuel said. “He’s got good balance at the
plate. He’s lowered his hands some. He’s catching the ball at an angle
out front. That’s when his power plays for him.”

Dom could be just the hope Philadelphia fans need in 2013.
