Schilling a Phillie in 2008?

Boston pitcher Curt Schilling says he wants to play in 2008 whether or not he's a member of the Red Sox.

"Where I'm going to play beyond 2007, I hope it's Boston, but I will go out and find a home to pitch," Schilling told WEEI. "I hope it's here but there's also that possibility [of pitching for another team]. It would not be to New York."

One team that could interest Schilling is the Philadelphia Phillies, who have always had a love-hate relationship with Schilling throughout his career. Schilling was open to returning to Philadelphia when he was a free agent in 2004, but former general manager Ed Wade never made an offer.

Schilling believes his relationship with Wade, who is no longer with the organization, prevented him from coming back to the city where he had great success early in his career. He was a Phillie since 1992 before he was dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks prior to the 2000 trade deadline.

I think the line I highlighted says it best.  I think Schilling's need for attention can be a bit much at times, but seeing him go out to the mound every fifth day at Citizens Bank Park is an enticing thought.
