The Phillies Sense October Nearing

The atmosphere at Citizens Bank Park last night was fantastic. It helps that the Phillies were putting up runs in bunches and making awesome defensive plays to support the dominance that Cliff Lee brought to the game.

Standing ovations happened after numerous plays and fans were frequently on their feet clapping with two strikes on a batter on Cliff looking in for a sign from Chooch.

You get a sense October is nearing, and Cliff Lee and the Phillies feel it too. Lee denied being a ninja after last night's game, saying what he does is "not magic," but he does sense playoff ball approaching. Are Jedis and ninjas mutually exclusive?

"Yeah, obviously it's September. It's getting close," Cliff said following his dominant outing. "We still want to finish strong. We've been pretty strong the whole time even with guys down. We've had a pretty impressive team from start to finish. It's not time to exhale or time to sit back and say 'oh, we've got it.' There's still plenty of season left, and we can definitely sense it's getting close, but it's not over until it's over."
