Trade Deadline: Nothing to See Here But the Same Old Phillies

The 4:00 pm non-waiver trade deadline has come and gone and Michael Young is playing first base and batting second this evening for your Philadelphia Phillies. Many thought the veteran was all but gone leading into the deadline, but Ruben Amaro Jr. did not make any deals for the first time in years and the Phillies you'll see tonight are the Phillies you saw last night with one notable exception. 3B prospect Cody Asche will make his first start in the bigs tonight.

That doesn't assure M. Young or a handful of the others guys are going to be here all season, as a trade via the waiver wire in August is certainly still a possibility, as Ruben told reporters prior to tonight's game against the Giants.

I suppose if we're looking for any silver lining on a day in which a whole lot of nothing happened, there was this from Charlie Manuel:
