Video: Charlie Manuel Says the Phillies' Swagger Is Gone

The Phillies have reached one of their lowest points of the 2012 season after Thursday's 8-3 loss to the Dodgers, having dropped a season-high sixth straight game. In fact, it's one of the lower points they've reached during the Manuel era.

Manager Charlie Manuel spoke about his team quite honestly in his post game presser this afternoon. There's no sugar coating what's happening with his club. The swagger in his clubhouse is clearly fading, and the fear in opponents is no longer there.

Manuel was asked about his team losing their edge at home after finishing this homestand with a 1-6 record.

"We don't scare nobody," Manuel said. "We used to have a swagger, we used to be kind of cocky in a real good way. Team's definitely used to fear us. I don't see that fear no more."

"Nobody backs down from us. Matter of fact, they come right at us. They take it right to us."

And opposing team's have had success taking it right at this Phillies team that is currently three games under .500 at 28-31 and last in the NL East. I suppose on the bright side, things can't get a whole lot worse, can they?

Rip his in-game decisions all you want, but it's refreshing to see Charlie put things bluntly.
