Video: Either Ryan Howard Or the Umpires Had Some Trouble Counting On Wednesday in Cincy

There was a bit of a mix up in the third inning of the Phillies win over the Reds on Wednesday afternoon in Cincinnati. Ryan Howard was up at the plate and thought he was thrown the fourth ball of his at-bat and appeared to confer with the ump prior to trotting down to first.

But then the umpires got together to discuss it. T-Mac weighed in to fill some time with elevator music / an MLB At Bat App advertisement.

As it turned out, Howard hadn't been thrown four balls, but we never really seemed to learn whose count was off, his own or the umps. The telecast actually does a nice job fast-forwarding through every pitch to demonstrate the mistake.

Pretty weird situation.
