Video: What does the Phanatic say?

Dec 20, 2013, 11:34 AM EDT

Well this exists.

For those of you who don’t spend much time on the Internet, this video posted at the official MLB YouTube page is the parody of the uber popular “What Does the Fox Say?” by Ylvis, a “comedy duo” from Norway.

I can’t say I expect this version to be another Internet sensation but a couple of the new lyrics aren’t bad:

Rival fan, cheering there

Now there’s popcorn in your hair

Your fur is green

You don’t smell clean

And the stench brings tears to my eyes

According to the Phillies, “This is the Phanatic’s first music video to land on YouTube.”

Watch out Beyonce.

^ These four girls think they can beat that record, Dom.

Sadly, this is the most intelligent thing the Phillies have done this off season.

    Most overrated mascot in sports

Merry Christmas, sfsu. May you finally find serenity.

He steals beers out of people’s hands, he stands on the dugout in late innings, blocking the views of some of the most expensive seats. Eventually there will be a line drive foul ball that hits someone whose vision was blocked by the mascot.

God bless your soul! Jesus loves you.

The dugout thing drives me nuts. Watch the damn game, not some relic from the 30 years ago dancing to a song that hasn’t been relevant in 25 years.

HAHAHA dude you have to much hate in your blood what did the Phanatic not give you a high five when you were younger and you hated him ever since?

Perhaps it’s a sign of how truly wretched this video is that it actually makes folks angry at the mascot?

Let’s see: Trotting out something that was awesome quite a while ago, but has aged and lost it’s luster yet is now being slickly re-copied with a distinct lack of creativity or forethought, and touted as something fresh and worth your time…..this video isn’t a metaphor for anything, is it?

This is Chris Wheeler’s finest work since he joined Phillies in 1971. He should leave the booth to pursue a career.
