Watch Cliff Lee, who is awesome, high five a couple kids during his eight shutout innings

This is one of the times where I'd like to give myself a little pat on the back for reason No. 1  of my preseason "Reasons to get excited for the 2014 Phillies" post: "At least we get to watch Cliff Lee every fifth day."

I know, I really went out on a limb there. But it's true. Enjoy it.

Clifton Phifer Lee has certainly enjoyed pitching in Los Angeles during his career with the Phils and that trend continued on Monday night as Lee was absolutely dominant for eight innings of shutout ball. His final line: 8.0 IP, 4 hits, 0 walks, 10 strikeouts and the Phillies 7-0 victory.

It was the first time the Phillies got their starting pitcher a win in thirteen games. The last guy to do it? Cliff Lee in Chicago.

Oh, and Cliff Lee didn't just entertain on the mound. He earned himself a hit with the bat in his hand.

And in perhaps one of the best "this guy really is awesome" moments of the season in the top of the eighth inning, Lee took some swings in the on-deck circle in the midst of retiring 18-straight Dodgers and took the time to high five a couple of young Phillies fans who had some pretty sweet seats.

Watch Lee get his high-fives with the kids behind home plate above.

Ryan Howard continued swinging a hot bat and launched one into the L.A. night while Carlos Ruiz got his first RBIs of the season, four of them to be exact.

A.J. Burnett takes the mound on Tuesday night (late today, technically) and Cole Hamels makes his season debut on Wednesday night. Not a bad run for the Fightins' here.
