Watch Jimmy Rollins talk for nine minutes about Sandberg benching and apparent relationship strain

"I don't know, there's no fire that needs to be lit though."

That's how Jimmy Rollins responded when asked if the strange past few days is a way of Ryne Sandberg trying to light a fire under his shortstop.

Jimmy has been benched the past few days and there's no real clear reason as to why. Many of the scribes who follow this team on a daily basis believe it's Sandberg's version of "message sending."

Rollins admits that Sandberg is upset about something, but it isn't clear what. Rollins also admits the two haven't talked in a couple of days and J-Roll doesn't plan to reach out to his manager, preferring to wait for his skipper to seek him out and explain the benching or whatever other issues there may be.

So what to make of all of this March madness? Who knows. Sandberg clearly isn't Charlie Manuel and isn't going to let the status quo of the Phillies clubhouse go on. He praised younger Freddy Galvis for his energy, what exactly is he trying to get out of Rollins by calling him out by not exactly calling him out.

Only time will tell.

"It's the 13th of March, not April," Rollins said.
