Phillies scribe Jim Salisbury set the scene in Atlanta last night:

ATLANTA — Jonathan Papelbon looked a little like Roy Halladay as he bobbed and weaved his way through the ninth inning with a flaccid fastball and a bag full of off-speed trickery Saturday night.

Paps made the Philadelphia faithful sweat it out but eventually closed the door.

And damn if Jimmy Rollins doesn’t still flash some brilliance from time to time. Check out this beauty to end the game:

    I can’t do another season of this knucklehead at closer. One of the dumbest signing if the last few years, in MLB. Closers are never, except Rivera, worth that money and amount of years.

      Absolutely! Relief pitchers, especially closers, are nearly impossible to predict from season to season. You just don’t sign closers to long term contracts, especially expensive ones. Every GM should know this.
