Andre Iguodala Posts Thank You Letter to Philadelphia on His Website

Share

Andre Iguodala returns to Philadelphia tonight as a member of the Denver Nuggets. In his first game for his new team, he of course has to face the team he spent eight seasons becoming an NBA All-Star with, the 76ers.

Always a thoughtful guy, Andre posted a letter addressed to Philly on his website this morning thanking fans for their support over the years.

It starts:

Philly—

I would like to take the time to thank you and all your devoted
sports fans for the passion, loyalty and spirit that you gave to me
during my eight seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.

It then goes on to thank the front office and players he worked with over the years. And it closes as such:

Tonight I begin a new chapter in my career but I will always share my
accomplishments with the city and the organization and I thank you both
for all that you have done for me.

Sincerely,

Andre Iguodala

I don't know what it is, but Philly fans sure do love a thank you letter/billboard/newspaper ad from a departed player.

My favorite part of Dre's letter? The fact that's it's overlayed on top of photos from his time in Philadelphia, particularly the shot of him and Evan Turner after Iguodala's huge game-winning drive last season in the playoffs. Evan and Dre were so cute together.

Obviously Dre is/was a polarizing player in this town, but I personally believe he deserves nothing but cheers before the game starts tonight. But once tip off happens, boo the crap out of him. He's used to it anyway.
