Classic rivalry of two storied teams picks up tonight as Sixers head to Boston

The timeless rivalry between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics is renewed this evening in a matchup for the ages. Well, not exactly. The Sixers are 14-31 on the season while the Celtics are 15-32. But that doesn't take anything away from the rivalry, says head coach Brett Brown. Right.

From Sixers' television reporter Molly Sullivan earlier in the day:

We don't have to sugar coat this game being anything remotely resembling the rivalry in its glory days. Let's be honest, fans of both teams are probably hoping for a loss.

But the game is a homecoming of sorts for both Brett Brown and MCW, the latter of which has been struggling more than we've come to expect out of him over the past few games:

Carter-Williams hopes to improve on those numbers when he takes the court against the Celtics for Wednesday night’s homecoming, but his coach has another message for his floor general.

“Have a blast,” Brown said. “Be so proud of your accomplishments and go back there and enjoy the experience of playing where you grew up and now being a starting NBA point guard. I want him to enjoy this experience.”
