Doug Collins Announces Sixers Have Brought Back Royal Ivey

And here's the backup point guard we've all been going on about. Sort of.

Sixers director of PR Michael Preston tweeted that Doug Collins told the media Tuesday that the team has brought back Royal Ivey for his second tour of duty. The 30-year-old Ivey played for two seasons in Philadelphia from 2008 to 2010, before being dealt to Milwaukee with Primoz Brezec in return for Francisco Elson and Jodie Meeks.

Ivey averaged 10.4 minutes per game for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, and played less than 10 minutes a night in each of the three years prior. He has not averaged more than three points per game since leaving Philadelphia and brings almost nothing by way of scoring off the bench, save for occasionally trying his luck with an open three.

His lack of offense prowess aside, Ivey is a solid defender, the kind of veteran that will probably mesh well with Doug Collins, and absolutely no threat to Jrue Holiday -- who prepares to take a larger hold on the team -- or anyone else, for that matter.

In other news, Collins added that Kwame Brown passed his physical, which is nice.
