Jrue Holiday for Nerlens Noel: The Rebuild Is Officially On

Share

Oh man. In a draft that saw a #1 pick absolutely nobody expected, the Sixers have still pulled off the shocker of the night by trading their young All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans for Nerlens Noel, the Kentucky power forward selected sixth in the draft. Noel, a defensive prospect, was considered one of the draft's top talents, but slid to #6 partly due to his recovery from ACL surgery, which will likely have him out of the Sixers' lineup for much of the '13-'14 season. The Sixers will also get a 2014 first-round pick from the Pelicans in this deal, and will give up a second-rounder in the deal, as all reported by Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski.

We're still a little too reeling to properly process this, but rest assured that plenty of analysis will be forthcoming on this shocker of a mega-deal, including analysis of whoever the Sixers actually take at #11--which, we're guessing will be a point guard, either Syracuse's Michael Carter-Williams or Lehigh's C.J. McCollum.

We'll love you always, Jrue.
