New Sixers Owners Say Hello, Will Slash Plenty of Ticket Prices

Clearly the most relevant aspect of today's new ownership press conference was the announcement that some 9,000 tickets at the Wells Fargo Center will be cut by 50% or more. Sitting in the lower bowl for as low as $29 is a huge improvement over last season. It's nice to see the new owners making an immediate positive impact on the fans.

The theme of the day from the team's new CEO Adam Aron was improving the game-day experience for fans. That's nice and all, but to real basketball fans it's not really about what goes on during timeouts and halftime, what matters most to hoops junkies is what happens on the court for 48 minutes and whether you've got a winning team.

That said, as the early CBP-era Phillies showed us, improving the fan experience can often lead to more casual fans in the seats which can in some ways lead to a better product on the field. Not as easily done in the NBA with the way salary caps, etc. are structured, but still true in some respects.

They also hinted at a number of announcements in the coming weeks, and angry-bunny-mascot Hip-Hop was not in attendance today at the Palestra, so here's to hoping the bunny gets chopped.

That would really make me like these new guys.
