NHL player crashes Lakers practice in full hockey gear, probably wants a roster spot

The L.A. Lakers are in Philadelphia today to take on the Sixers this evening in a basketball game. The Calgary Flames are in town to take on the Flyers in a hockey contest tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm.

This convergence led to an amazing moment this afternoon when Flames winger Jiri Hudler took to the Wells Fargo Center court this afternoon while the Lakers were having a shoot around.

By the looks of all of the bricks Hudler was tossing up, he'd probably fit right in on the Lakers' roster.

So what the heck was Jiri doing in full gear plus sneakers? We asked Flyers' writer Sarah Baicker, who explains, "when NHL teams arrive in Philly early and the ice isn't down at the Center, they practice at the rink at UPenn. But it's a very old and crappy rink. So the players dress in the NHL visitors locker room at the Wells Fargo Center, except for their skates. Then take a bus to and from Penn."
