Report: Allen Iverson to announce his retirement at Sixers home opener

Oct 17, 2013, 1:04 PM EDT

ESPN’s Chris Broussard tweeted that sources are telling him that Allen Iverson will officially announce his retirement at the Sixers home opener on October 30th when the team takes on LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Iverson’s decision likely makes this one of the few Sixers games on the schedule all year that will have more than a couple thousand fans in attendance could be a sell out.

Nobody packed that building like A.I. His official retirement will likely do it one more time.

Just earlier this week we learned that Iverson was LeBron’s second favorite player growing up so we’ll likely get plenty of bro hugs on the evening.

UPDATE: David Aldridge also reports on the October 30th retirement but also adds that Iverson could wind up with a job in the Sixers organization per one of his sources. Which leads you to wonder, what kind of job would Allen Iverson be good at in the Sixers org?

Seriously? Man. This is just my luck. I knew I shouldn’t have taken him in the first round of my fantasy draft this year.

Oh well. Here’s to hoping for big numbers from Starbury.

I’d actually pay to go and see this just because I love Allen but they are somehow asking for $50 per ticket to sit in the absolute last row of the upper deck. That’s insanity.

I’d say that more of the team they play that night with all the Cowboys, I mean Yankees, I mean Heat fans there

Wait, didn’t he retire about 5 years ago? Get lost, clown. Everyone has been over your ego for a decade.
