Sixers Youth Poised to Go for Celtics Kill

This rest of this Sixers-Celtics series could go a lot like Game 2 did, with Boston allowing Philly to hang around and hang around, and then finally, the Sixers youth serves them when it matters most.

The price the Celtics paid to earn a split over the first two games in Boston is not to go unnoticed. The C's are old(er) and their bench is short, you see, and the Sixers roster is full of young guys who are at their best when their off and running. That doesn't bode all that well for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen over a long, grinding series in which every win is going to come down to the wire.

Brian over at Depressed Fan does a very nice job digging deeper into the toll the Celtics paid to earn that split. His graphic above is fantastic, and not just because it's schadenfreude-tastic.

Brian writes, "Doc Rivers went for the jugular in games one and two, as he should have.
He overextended his main guys and looked to take a 2-0 lead into Philly
and maybe break the Sixers' will. He played those guys heavy minutes
with no conscience, and all he has to show for it is a 1-1 tie. Now it's
time for the Sixers to place their foot firmly on the right pedal and
never let up."

There's also a solid baseball analogy. The Sixers are going to treat the Celtics like the (Papelbon-less) Phillies bullpen (I think).

Point being, the Sixers should be happy that Doc Rivers has overextended his four stars and the Celtics only have one win to show for it.
