WATN: Pat Croce Does Pirates Better than Johnny Depp

Where is the former face of the Philadelphia 76ers? Oh, he's digging for buried treasure off the coast of Panama. No big deal.

With all the attention being paid to the Sixers’ new ownership group, we found ourselves wondering about the front office execs of old—specifically, Pat Croce.

So where is the former face of the Philadelphia 76ers? Oh, just digging for buried treasure off the coast of Panama. No big deal.

Apparently, Croce and his team at the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum just unearthed some 400-year-old mystery shipwreck of Sir Francis Drake.

A quintessentially Croce excerpt from the Daily News’ piece on the discovery:

In other words, Drake was a badass plunderer, Croce says, and the most successful privateer in maritime history.

“If it weren’t for Sir Francis Drake, we might all be speaking Spanish,” Croce said. “He was the ultimate pirate, bro. I love this guy.”

And we love you, Pat. Anyone else think the return of a badass plunderer like Croce might be good for this Sixers franchise?

Regardless of whether or not he would come back, at least his museum’s PR department seems in agreement with our Johnny Depp comparison.

Pretty much, yeah. RT @cnmenta: WATN: @Pat_Croce Does Pirates Better than Johnny Depp http://t.co/bOcK1FHF
