For the most part, it seems like Michael Vick has tried to turn his life around since being released from federal prison — speaking out against animal cruelty, paying his creditors, getting married, taking care of a family dog. Of course, the reason he was in federal prison is the same reason many will be…

LeSean McCoy has been yucking it up at the NovaCare Complex a lot lately, challenging Michael Vick to races, acting like he didn’t know Matt Barkley’s first name. Some of his hijinks allegedly are not so benign. According to a report from TMZ (via CBS Philly), a woman has filed a lawsuit against Shady claiming…

Donovan McNabb has taken the brunt of many jokes since his departure from Philadelphia on that weird Easter Sunday a couple of years ago. Much of that criticism has been warranted while much of it has not. What no Eagles fans should do, however, is attempt to look back on the McNabb era in Philadelphia…

For the first time since Chip Kelly came to Philadelphia, we were provided an actual glimpse into what the Eagles will be like under a new head coach on Monday. It will be a few months yet before we can get a read on what direction the team is heading – and as long as…

For the first time since Chip Kelly became the Eagles head coach, the media was invited to watch one of his famous up-tempo practices on round one, day one of organized team activities. Much of the discussion afterwards was about just how “fast” and “frenetic” the sessions really were, or regarding the eclectic soundtrack to…

I am no stat geek, no sabermetrician. But I do like to think that I am an intelligent person who is very capable of realizing that in some instances, advanced statistics in sports can be used as a valuable tool in many settings. To what degree are they useful? The truth there is certainly open…

Two weeks have gone by since the New York Jets released Tim Tebow, and the only NFL executive who will admit he wants anything to do with the career 47.9% passer is Commissioner Roger Goodell. In fact Chip Kelly ruled out Tebow landing with the Eagles immediately, favoring accuracy over athleticism under center. So why…

The Sunday before last, Roy Halladay gave up nine runs in 2 and 1/3 innings to the awful Miami Marlins, bringing his ERA for the season to 8.65. After the game, Halladay admitted that his shoulder had been bothering him for awhile. Following a visit a few days later to Dr. Lewis Yocum — because…

Garry Cobb is a media personality in Philadelphia. He may be best known for his work hosting a radio show on 94 WIP. Either that or for tweeting out breaking news roughly four hours after every other media outlet has already reported on it on a regular basis. Via Dan McQuade we’ve come to learn…

I would feel remiss if we didn’t poke fun at anybody who purchased a pair of Andy Reid autographed flipflops or other strange memorabilia, but once we get that point out of the way, you have laud the nice effort the Reid family put into raising money for the quality causes of their choice. So,…

If you’re not on Twitter yet, then you’re living a lie. Between Coco tweeting out pics of her bonkers bazooka butt, Rob Delaney’s absurdity and Richard Simmons’ zest for absolutely everything (he’s going to the movies today!), Twitter is by far the best thing going in this world. Even better than Federal Donuts. Yep, I…

This is not not impressive. The Eagles selected safety Earl Wolf out of N.C. State in fifth round at 136th overall. Wolf’s mother was actually raised in North Philly, prompting him to say: “So, basically, I’m coming back home.” Wolff stands 6-foot tall. That’s 72 inches. This shelf he’s about to jump onto is allegedly…

You wouldn’t necessarily describe the Eagles as being thin at running back, not with All-Pro LeSean McCoy and impressive 22-year-old Bryce Brown. However, since Dion Lewis was shipped to Cleveland for linebacker Emmanuel Acho, there is definitely an opening on the roster. That explains why the team is kicking the tires on Felix Jones. On…

When most people move from one city to another they end up throwing out half of what was in their closet or maybe donating some of it to the Goodwill. When you were the head football coach for the Philadelphia Eagles for over a decade, you can probably auction off most of that stuff and…

For the seventh time in his career, Terrell Owens is a pro bowler. The first six times were in the National Football League. Most recently it was in the Professional Bowlers Association League. Actually, according to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com (via Deadspin), T.O. is only a semi-pro bowler this time, although the prefix is nothing…

That was quick. Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was married over the weekend. Details are forthcoming but early indications are the bride won’t have control over the decision that matters most for Eagles fans — Midnight or Kelly. His new bride, Tina Lai (39), is a couple of decades younger than Lurie (61). From the…

The Oregon State corner was a consensus All-American in 2012 and finished second in the nation with seven interceptions. He was mostly projected as a Day 2 or very early Day 3 pick. So how did he manage to fall to the Eagles in the seventh round. We’re now four days after the NFL Draft and that’s still a fascinating question.

There are a lot positive vibes emanating from the NovaCare Complex these days. The Eagles are coming out of a fine-looking draft, players are buying into Chip Kelly’s program, and there is a renewed excitement surrounding the team in general.
They seem to be having fun for the first time in awhile, which brings us to today’s story: Michael Vick versus LeSean McCoy in the 40-yard dash. They could’ve put that on pay-per-view.

This is a story for @FakeWIPCaller. New Eagles quarterback and real WIP caller Matt Barkley will wear the number 2 on his uniform this season, the first player to do so for the franchise since David Akers.

Kansas City BBQ and Andy Reid always seemed like a match made in heaven. You can only eat cheesesteaks for so many years before your palate needs something new and fresh and even more waistline expanding.

There has been some buzz since the Eagles chose Matt Barkley in the fourth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday, as you might expect. For one it defied many of the preconceived notions people held about what works in Chip Kelly’s offense. Also, had Barkley departed USC one year earlier, he might have been a far more heralded prospect, perhaps even a top 10 pick.

Every year we try to rationalize or critique the NFL Draft in the days that follow as if some of us had a crystal ball. Sure, the grades sportswriters hand out almost always come with the disclaimer that we won’t really know which picks will pan out for 3-5 years, but that doesn’t stop anybody from guessing.
Having said that, it’s difficult not to feel good about what the Eagles accomplished over the weekend – and I don’t necessarily mean specific players.

Everyone knew the Birds were evaluating quarterbacks in this year’s draft. Eagles brass visited with a enough of them. Hell, Jeffrey Lurie trekked to West Virginia to look at Geno Smith. Then again, not many people had Matt Barkley as one of their targets.

We knew the Eagles had to come away from this draft with at least one defensive lineman. They found their man in round three in Bennie Logan.
