Through three weeks, the San Francisco 49ers offense ranks dead last in the NFL in total yardage, averaging just 213.7 despite not playing a particularly tough slate of defenses so far (Seattle, Dallas, and Cincinnati). They’re neither running nor passing well, ranking very close to the bottom of the league in both categories. The Niners have picked up only 209 yards on the ground and 432 through the air.

In one of the odder examples of twitter dominating the modern media landscape, a spat on the social media outlet yesterday between Les Bowen of the Daily News and Jeff McLane of the Inquirer reportedly became a physical affair at the NovaCare Complex today. Howard Eskin says that Bowen, who was the target of some pretty scathing tweets by McLane yesterday, “connect[ed] 2 the head” of McLane.

Andy Reid just shared the news that there is no actual break in Michael Vick’s hand. According to Reid, the X-ray was misinterpreted because a blood vessel on top of the bone gave the appearance of a break.

Despite all the negativity yesterday — you should have heard the soapbox that is the Lincoln Financial Field men’s room with two minutes left in the game — Mike Vick showing his anger following the game was a welcomed display of emotion. Too frequently this Birds team is robotic and doesn’t lash out and say what you want to hear. After the game, Vick was angry and let it be known he wasn’t happy with the refs allowing defenders to beat him up in the pocket.
