    Nov 3, 2011, 11:19 AM EDT

  4. Flyers Ride Great Start, Chase Ryan Miller and Hold Off Sabres

    Nov 2, 2011, 11:55 PM EDT

Coming into Wednesday night’s Flyers-Sabres game in Buffalo, Ryan Miller was had lost his previous three starts, with Buffalo’s only win in its last four games commune with Jonas Enroth in net. The all-world goalie (you apparently can’t talk about Miller without saying “all-world”) wouldn’t survive the first period against the Flyers, with the visitors putting three of their first ten shots past him before Lindy Ruff turned the game over to Enroth.

The change in net (and presumably a Ruffing up in the intermission) revitalized the Sabres, who got their act together to start the second and eventually score the game’s next two goals. Ceding momentum, the Flyers weren’t able to beat Enroth at all, but they managed to keep Buffalo at bay despite facing some good opportunities right up until the final whistle.

A look at how the Flyers got to Miller, and why bad bounces and deflections refuse to let Ilya Bryzgalov find his way completely out of the woods.

  5. Game 12: Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres… Ville Struggles as Flyers Continue to Evolve

    Nov 2, 2011, 3:53 PM EDT

The one-time playoff hero of the Flyers has not found his groove in upstate New York, scoring in his debut, but not since. In fact, he’s added just one assist since then. Only one Flyer who has played in all 11 games has two points or less…

  6. Call Reversed: Bryzgalov Media Ban Deemed Un-CBA’able

    Nov 1, 2011, 8:03 AM EDT

The big Flyers story yesterday—an off day following a big weekend win—was the muzzling of goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. The quote machine’s media availability was limited to a scant amount, either by the man himself or his team. You may have noticed a lot of people getting pretty upset over it. And, as we learned in Puck Daddy’s coverage of the news, Sam Carchidi filed a complaint with the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

According to Tim Panaccio, Kevin Allen of the PHWA had a conference call with the Flyers, during which he informed them that limiting the media’s access to Bryzgalov violated the league’s media policy as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

  7. Ilya Bryzgalov to Talk Less: Do You Care as a Fan?

    Oct 31, 2011, 3:43 PM EDT

big-dollar off-season goalie acquisition “will no longer talk to the media except in postgame situations in which he plays.”

  8. And We’re Back G-Line Dominates Hurricanes, Bryzgalov Nearly Perfect

    Oct 29, 2011, 9:58 PM EDT

We waited the entire remainder of the Sopranos series to find out what happened to the Russian who was lost in the woods, to no avail, as he never resurfaced. We only had to wait one game to see the Flyers own lost Russian re-emerge.

  9. Chris Pronger Eye Injury Update and Comedy Hour

    Oct 29, 2011, 8:46 PM EDT

Flyers captain Chris Pronger met with reporters during the first intermission of Saturday night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes, giving an update on his progress in healing after a scary eye injury during the week. Pronger was quick with the jokes, teasing at least two members of the media and throwing in a little Dirty Harry routine. It’s what he said first that concerned me though.

  10. Former Flyer Suspended for Boarding Other Former Flyer

    Oct 29, 2011, 7:54 PM EDT

Chicago Blackhawk Dan Carcillo was given a two-game suspension for boarding Joni Pitkanen of the Carolina Hurricanes.

  11. Game 11: Carolina Hurricanes at Philadelphia Flyers Bryz vs. Boosh, Briere Out

    Oct 29, 2011, 3:40 PM EDT

It’s not quite the Mike Richards homecoming game of October 15, but the Flyers will host a former compatriot tonight at the Wells Fargo Center, with Brian Boucher getting the start in net for the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes of course are the club that current Flyers boss Peter Laviolette won a Stanley Cup with in 2006.

Cam Ward was on the ice when Carolina lifted that Cup, but he’ll get the night off after posting a 3-0 shutout of the Blackhawks last night. Boosh hasn’t found the win column in either of his two starts, giving up nine goals on 60 shots, five of which came in a loss to the Winnipeg Jets last Saturday. His counterpart tonight knows something about getting whipped by the Jets…

Despite Ilya Bryzgalov struggling mightily behind a soft and leaky defense, proclaiming after his last appearance that he has no confidence in himself right now, that he’s “lost in the woods.” His head coach is showing at least some confidence in his ability to snap out of it sooner rather than later though, sending him back to the crease immediately.

  12. Lindros and Clarke Are Putting the Past Behind Them

  13. Ilya Bryzgalov: ‘I Have Zero Confidence in Myself Right Now’

    Oct 27, 2011, 11:39 PM EDT

In the aftermath of the Flyers’ 9-8 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Ilya Bryzgalov—who didn’t even start the game—took full responsibility for his side not winning. Bryz was emotional, clearly upset with himself for failing to help his team complete a monumental comeback.

“I have zero confidence in myself right now. (Unintelligible) I am terrible. I will now apologize in front of the fans, in front of my teammates. I don’t know what’s going on. I have no answer for you guys. I thought in the last game against Montreal, that nothing worse was going to happen. Today was worse.”

    Oct 27, 2011, 5:02 PM EDT

    Oct 27, 2011, 11:24 AM EDT

  19. Game 9: Philadelphia Flyers at Montreal Canadiens… Hapless or Dangerous Habs?

  23. Jagr, Hartnell Open Accounts as Flyers Beat Leafs, But Pronger Hurt

    Oct 24, 2011, 9:52 PM EDT

Entering Monday night’s tilt with the Toronto Maple Leafs, two Flyers were notably goalless on the season. Both got off the schneid, with Scott Hartnell and Jaromir Jagr each tallying a brace to send the Flyers to a 4-2 victory. Unfortunately, the celebration is tempered by a scary eye injury to Chris Pronger.

  24. Scary: Chris Pronger Leaves Game With Facial Injury (video)

    Oct 24, 2011, 8:20 PM EDT

Chris Pronger is as tough as they come in the game of hockey, but even he couldn’t keep from screaming as he first lay on the ice, then skated off in extreme pain after the stick of Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski caught him in the face on the follow-through of a shot.

Pronger went down immediately, clutching a hand to his face and covering his right eye. He did not return to the game, but no updates are yet available. It certainly did not look good. We’ll update as we hear more.

  25. Game 8: Toronto Maple Leafs at Philadelphia Flyers Schenn-Off!

    Oct 24, 2011, 4:26 PM EDT
