You’re not doing any work today. We’re probably not doing a ton of work today. But the good news is there is plenty of basketball to watch. All. Day. Long.

La Salle bested Boise State, 80-71, in Dayton on Wednesday night to win the program’s first NCAA Tournament game in 23 years — on the university’s 150th anniversary no less.

With the hometown squad kicking off the Philadelphia portion of the NCAA tournament tonight, we’re all wondering the same thing: what channel is TruTV in Philadelphia?
Mar 20, 2013, 12:10 PM EST
They come from the two best mid-major conferences in the country. They received bids over schools from BCS conferences with (arguably) better resumes (Tennessee, Virginia). They have little-to-no recent NCAA tournament history. They both play four guards (sometimes even five) guards. There’s a lot of similarities between La Salle and Boise State ahead of their first-round/play-in game at 9:10 p.m. this evening in Dayton, Ohio.

The St. Joe’s Hawks lost at the buzzer as time expired last night in their first round NIT game with St. John’s. You never want your season to end in the NIT to begin with, but losing in the last possible moments makes for a long spring/summer. [watch the buzzer beater below]

Temple and Villanova too. But they’ve done that in the past two decades so that’s not as exciting as the Explorers getting a bid.
La Salle will get the national spotlight as well with one of the play-in games.
Mar 15, 2013, 9:29 AM EST
Do Temple and La Salle still need one more win each? How many spots are actually up for grabs from the A-10 in the field of 68? How could you have made a cool $16,000 Wednesday afternoon? This and more is our Day 2, A-10 tournament primer.

Looking for a house in South Philly? How about Rocky’s? The 90-year-old house is up for sale for $139,900.

The Villanova Wildcats knocked off the 5th ranked team in the nation last night in South Philadelphia. Kudos to Jay Wright’s squad for the win over Georgetown that should help their chances of punching a ticket to the tourney in a few weeks. But what we found interesting as we tuned in to the final…
Its Chester vs. Lower Merion (again): Fridays Battle at Nova is a Rematch of Last Years District and State Finals
Mar 1, 2013, 10:10 AM EST
If styles make fights, then Friday’s matchup between No. 1 Chester and No. 2 Lower Merion should be like a bonkers battle of the Klitschko brothers. Chester, with their fast-paced, get up in your grill, crash the boards, stuff it down your throat style, take on Lower Merion, with their fast-paced, get up in your…

Introduction seems unnecessary considering this is an introduction, so here’s what tonight’s Temple-La Salle game (7 p.m. / CBS Sports) has working in its favor: 1. The Big 5 TitleLa Salle (18-6, 8-3, 3-0) is guaranteed at least a share of the championship, which it has not held since 1998 and hasn’t won outright since…

Saturday night, 6 p.m., the Hagan Arena at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse on Hawk Hill (CBS Sports Network / 610 AM — Martucci-Lunardi / 1210 AM — Donahue-Baum).
It’s the most-played rivalry in the Big 5 — spanning 154 games — and for the first time in 31 years, it’s about to change.
Forbes Study Finds Fran Dunphy the Second-Best College Basketball Coach in the Country ‘for the Money’
Jan 28, 2013, 2:28 PM EST
Over the summer, a CBS Sports poll named Temple’s Fran Dunphy the most underrated coach in the nation. Well, Forbes has now broken the argument into monetary terms and compiled a list of the best coaches in the country “for the money.”

Is new Temple football coach Matt Rhule the kind of guy who’s going to invoke his mortality in his first public address since his introductory press conference? You’re goddamn right he is.
Jan 24, 2013, 2:07 AM EST
Sincere congratulations are in order for the Villanova Wildcats and La Salle Explorers, who, on back-to-back nights, took down the No. 5 and No. 9 teams in the nation in Louisville and Butler. Both wins included a court-storming, but neither included a buzzer-beating 50-footer. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we’re here.
Behold what’s very possibly the shot of the college basketball season [video inside].

In advertising meant to immediately appeal to Enrico and I, Temple University’s Hooter the Owl and Boston College’s Baldwin the Eagle have made their way into the latest “This is SportsCenter” commercial. We’ve embedded the video above. Granted, they both went beak-first into the glass, but at least one learned from the lesson, which is,…

NEW YORK — It wasn’t until about 30 minutes after Temple had upset No. 3 Syracuse at Madison Square Garden on Saturday that Anthony Lee fully realized what he and his teammates had done. Lee knew he had set a new career high with 21 points. He knew how key his 11 of 14 makes…

You heard Steve Addazio use “Temple TUFF” more often than you needed to over the last two years. Got old. Thankfully, now that we’re pretty F—ing certain it’s an acronym that contains a F—ing obscenity, we can start F—ing using it properly. Introduced as the new head coach of Temple football at press conference on…

It’s the cardinal rule of college basketball: If you’re going to flip off an opposing student section, be sure to hit your free throws. It’s a rule St. Joseph’s junior forward Halil Kanacevic learned the hard way Tuesday night. Kanacevic, who had been struggling for the first 30 minutes of his team’s 65-61 loss to…

It’s called the Holy War, but as long as we’re getting religious, maybe it’s time to talk about Reconciliation. They’re small. They’re private. They’re Catholic. They’re known primarily for the success of their basketball programs. And they have absolutely no influence whatsoever in modern college athletics. That’s what happens when you don’t have an FBS…
Temple’s Fran Dunphy Probably Wouldn’t Have Been Happy with This Haircut Had Anthony Lee Not Dropped 16 Last Night
Dec 6, 2012, 11:02 AM EST
My first thought: What did Anthony Lee do to his hair? My second thought, following Temple’s 76-61 win over Villanova at the Pavilion last night: Yo, Ant — can I get a shot of your head? Lee, a 6-foot-9 redshirt sophomore who wears No. 3 and had “TU3″ shaved into the side of his head,…

In honor of our Fearless Leader’s alma mater, it’s been requested that I put together a list of what BC students, alums and fans should expect from their new head coach. In 15 easy bullet points, a quick getting-to-know Steve Addazio: • He will be loud. His press conferences will frequently be loud. • He…

Bill Bradshaw is seeing green, even if plenty of others can’t see past the Green Wave. The Big East has faced a firestorm of criticism since it announced on Tuesday the additions of Tulane and East Carolina to the conference. Those adds came one week after it lost Rutgers to the Big Ten and one…

The Temple Owls are playing the Syracuse Orangemen today at Lincoln Financial Field in a football contest. Unless you’re a Temple alum (and even then, really) your interest in this game is likely minimal, but these six tweets tell you all you probably really want to know about it anyway. This Syracuse/Temple game is what…

Just two years after adding Nebraska to reach 12 teams, the Big Ten will continue expanding their reach. Maryland has agreed to leave the ACC and become a member of the conference beginning in 2014, and reports are Rutgers will follow suit by exiting the Big East next. Poor Big East. Just when they complete…
