You can watch La Salle star and one of the breakout players from this year’s NCAA Tournament, Ramon Galloway, talk about competing in the college dunk contest at the Final Four in the video above. He’s also shown practicing a few dunks, but let’s be honest, the dunks shown better be his warm up drills if he wants any shot at winning.

In a lot of ways, La Salle fans won out just by seeing their team get as far as it did for the first time in nearly six decades. A memorable Big 5 run has reached its end.

Less than two weeks ago, we were sitting around watching conference championship games rooting for other teams to lose so that La Salle might make it to the First Four. Tip off between the 13th-seeded La Salle Explorers and Wichita State Shockers for the opportunity to advance to the Elite Eight is scheduled for 10:17 this evening and can be seen on TBS.

Chances are that you know very little about Wichita State and not the basketball team, the actual university. Consequently, we’ve prepared a fact sheet based mostly off what we found on Wikipedia, the universities’ websites, Forbes, and the National Center for Education Statistics.

Elena Delle Donne kept her University of Delaware career alive last night with a huge win over the higher seeded North Carolina Tar Heels. The NCAA tournament game just so happened to be scheduled at UD’s own Bob Carpenter Center and the place was packed with Blue Hens fans, including the most famous (only?) person you know from Delaware, Vice President Joe Biden.

NBC10 caught up with La Salle guard Ty Garland’s now famous Cousin Bern on the playground where the Southwest Philly Floater was honed. He talked about the pair of cousins balling all day as youngsters and explained the now famous shot. [video below

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Didn’t.

Twitter can be a double-edged sword. Many young athletes become infamous for screwing up on social media when they don’t know how to filter themselves and inevitably wind up in trouble. But then there are those unique times like Sunday night when you see a young kid like Philadelphia’s own Ty Garland react to becoming one of the most talked about stories in the world. Literally.

Oh, man. This video of La Salle students at the Tom Gola Arena in North Philadelphia reacting to the final seconds of the Explorers’ wild victory over Ole Miss to advance to the Sweet 16 is one of those things that reminds you why you love sports so damn much. And the girls mockingly doing Marshall Henderson’s patented land shark move is the cherry on top.
Mar 24, 2013, 11:00 PM EDT
All it took for the La Salle Explorers to become the talk of the entire world was a simple answer to a question from the funky-suit-wearing Craig Sager. What do you call that final shot that propelled your team into the Sweet 16?
“That’s the Southwest Philly Floater,” Tyrone Garland answered.

If you’re comparing styles, you probably won’t finder a stranger matchup in the 2013 NCAA Tournament than Khalif Wyatt vs. Victor Oladipo.
Mar 23, 2013, 2:55 PM EDT
He exhibits the on-court demeanor of a borderline sociopath, shoots with no regard for efficiency, openly shit talks opposing players and coaches, and looks like Sid from Toy Story. He’s Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson and he’s playing the La Salle Explorers on Sunday.
Mar 22, 2013, 5:45 PM EDT
Holy almost give it away, Explorers! You beautiful kids from North Philly held on though, and that’s all that matters. What a wild first day.

With three Philadelphia teams playing in the NCAA Tournament today, it’s a pretty great time for the city to come together and support all of the local schools. Brotherly love and all that stuff. Or, if you’re a bar in Havertown, use the opportunity to mock one of the team’s that failed to make it to the big dance.

Having Charles Barkley in the mix on CBS/TNT/TruTV/TBS’ coverage of March Madness has been both a blessing and a curse. Sure, we all want more Chuck in our lives at all times, but his prep work and analysis of the college hoop game has left a bit to be desired over the past few years. That said, Charles almost always brings the funny and I don’t know what it is about this commercial, but the idea of Sir Charles calling a bunch of little kids hooping it up in the driveway sounds a lot like what I imagined in my head when I was six years old playing in the driveway in Havertown.

Can Tyrone Garland, Ramon Galloway, and the rest of John Gianni’s boys shoot the lights out once again and upset Kansas State this afternoon? Here’s what you need to know.

You’re not doing any work today. We’re probably not doing a ton of work today. But the good news is there is plenty of basketball to watch. All. Day. Long.

La Salle bested Boise State, 80-71, in Dayton on Wednesday night to win the program’s first NCAA Tournament game in 23 years — on the university’s 150th anniversary no less.

With the hometown squad kicking off the Philadelphia portion of the NCAA tournament tonight, we’re all wondering the same thing: what channel is TruTV in Philadelphia?
Mar 20, 2013, 12:10 PM EDT
They come from the two best mid-major conferences in the country. They received bids over schools from BCS conferences with (arguably) better resumes (Tennessee, Virginia). They have little-to-no recent NCAA tournament history. They both play four guards (sometimes even five) guards. There’s a lot of similarities between La Salle and Boise State ahead of their first-round/play-in game at 9:10 p.m. this evening in Dayton, Ohio.

The St. Joe’s Hawks lost at the buzzer as time expired last night in their first round NIT game with St. John’s. You never want your season to end in the NIT to begin with, but losing in the last possible moments makes for a long spring/summer. [watch the buzzer beater below]

Temple and Villanova too. But they’ve done that in the past two decades so that’s not as exciting as the Explorers getting a bid.
La Salle will get the national spotlight as well with one of the play-in games.
Mar 15, 2013, 9:29 AM EDT
Do Temple and La Salle still need one more win each? How many spots are actually up for grabs from the A-10 in the field of 68? How could you have made a cool $16,000 Wednesday afternoon? This and more is our Day 2, A-10 tournament primer.
