    Aug 12, 2011, 5:20 PM EDT

Just before every time one of our local teams has a string of games out west, I feel like we hear it referred to as a test for them. A 9-1 away swing later, including two sweeps and three of four against the Giants, our Fightins are back home, returning to the packed stands of Citizens Bank Park. It’s a gorgeous summer night in Philly, a perfect evening for some divisional baseball.

    Aug 10, 2011, 2:22 PM EDT

Vance Worley (8-1, 2.35) and the Phillies look to cap off their grueling 20 games in 20 days this afternoon in sweeping fashion. A win in Los Angeles today would finish off that 20-day span with an 16-4 record, and an absolutely impressive 9-1 on the 10-game road trip. That would be their first-ever 9-1 record on a 10-game road trip in franchise history.

    Aug 10, 2011, 12:37 AM EDT

Shortly after midnight on the East Coast, Cliff Lee rewarded Phillies fans who stayed up late to watch him deal against the Dodgers. But it wasn’t with his arm. Lee had been showcasing his dazzling stuff on the mound all night, shutting out the Dodgers through six innings at that point. It was one beautiful swing of the bat that landed a Ted Lilly offering into the right field seats that really sent the Cliff Lee love fest through the roof.

  16. Polanco Given Dreaded ‘Sports Hernia’ Diagnosis, May Play Through It

    Aug 8, 2011, 11:35 PM EDT

The news coming out of the Placido Polanco doctor’s visit could’ve been a lot worse, but no one in Philadelphia will be too thrilled with the words “sports hernia” being applied to another local athlete. Jim Salisbury says that for the time being, Polly won’t head to the DL, and he’ll get an anti-inflammatory injection on Tuesday, then be re-evaluated on Friday to see if he can play through it.
