As of 6:00 today, it looked like a done deal that Chris Paul was going to be traded to the Lakers. In all likelihood, it was a done deal—New Orleans was gonna send CP3 to the Lakers for forwards Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, then turn around and deal Gasol to the Houston Rockets in exchange for shooting guard Kevin Martin, power forward Luis Scola, backup point Goran Dragic and a 2012 first-round pick belonging to the New York Knicks. Twitter exploded with the news of the trade, leading to the inevitable amount of hand-wrigning about the rich getting richer when we just had a lockout partially caused by the desire for parity between the big and small-market teams.

First they announced they be cutting ticket prices across the board, then they announced they’d be killing off their old mascot only to potentially replace it with a moose (okay, forget that one), then they cut online ticketing fees, and now they’re making all mezzanine seats in the month of January $17.76.

With the new proposed CBA seemingly poised to pass with overwhelming numbers, it looks like this Friday will finally represent the beginning of what should be the most rapid-fire free agency period in NBA history. While the Sixers haven’t been predicted to be one of the big movers and/or shakers in the off-season brouhaha, there are still plenty of questions facing the team that will need to be answered post haste.

Allen Iverson has been making the NBA lockout organized pickup game rounds as of late and The Mars Reel (via Slam) unearthed this clip of A.I. showing off his crossover on Jeff Teague. Sure, A.I. may not have that ridiculous lightning quickness that he was possessed, but we’re just happy to see a highlight of him show up on the Internet at all.

With the NBA lockout continuing to look grim, NBA players are still looking for a way to keep busy. Some, like former St. Joe’s Hawk Delonte West have applied for jobs at places like Home Depot, while others like former Sixer Willie Green have been hanging around Phil Martelli’s team as an intern.

No, not just the genre! The Sixers mascot of the same name has met his end. When we first heard this was likely and/or possible, we couldn’t have been happier. And it’s not like we’re in the minority or part of some vanguard revolution against the roided up rabbit here. I can’t think of any fans Hip Hop had.
And now, per an investigative report by Rich Hofmann, the Sixers have announced the retirement of Hip Hop, who has fallen in love, married (far be it from him to live in sin), and moved away to start a family.

We’ve seen some pretty fantastic Halloween costumes floating around the Internet over the past few days — this headless Tony Romo was a personal favorite — but the costume put together by Sixers star Andre Iguodala was clearly one of the best.
