After talks finally looked to be heading in a positive direction after multiple day-long meetings, commissioner David Stern announced Friday evening that the season the 2011-2012 season has been cancelled through November 30th. Any of the hope generated earlier this week that league might find a way to conduct a full 82-game season is now officially squashed.

Clearly the most relevant aspect of today’s new ownership press conference was the announcement that some 9,000 tickets at the Wells Fargo Center will be cut by 50% or more. Sitting in the lower bowl for as low as $29 is a huge improvement over last season. It’s nice to see the new owners making an immediate positive impact on the fans.
