GIF: Riley Cooper’s amazing one-handed catch

Dec 1, 2013, 2:21 PM EDT

source: Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper made the catch of the first half when he went up way high for a Nick Foles ball and managed to wrangle it in with one hand. But the highlight reel play didn’t end there as Cooper put on a spin move that Shady McCoy would be proud of to make a Cardinals’ defender miss after the catch.

The Eagles lead the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 17-7 at the end of the first half.

Yay Riley Cooper.. Good to see him overcome that vicious preseason P-C media witch hunt to emerge as a player Foles can count on

Well the good news is that Alan Jackson is back in the area again :)

Anyway it was an amazing catch. His play has showed the reasons why Chip Kelley kept him around. His abilities are really starting to show themselves without being held down by Vick.

Hats off to Michael Vick who put an end to the witch hunt, but cooper admitted he almost made a fatal mistake, but again, that was a long time ago, and Michael Vick proved himself right, he saw something we all did not see!!!

It WAS a witch hunt. People were clamoring for him to get kicked off the team and out of the NFL, over a word. An admittedly hateful word, but still a word. There are guys playing in the NFL right now that have raped, murdered, stolen, assaulted, committed DWIs, etc., and they are still playing, but yeah let’s kick out the guy who said the N-word. Makes perfect sense.

You sir…are a major idiot. It was not a P-C “witch hunt”…I know a lot of you are dismissive of black people, racism, and any race issue because you’re just that dismissive and condescending…but people had every right to be upset by it. The very fact that you’d dismiss it as a P-C witch hunt rather than acknowledge he did something stupid is…well…not surprising on this website considering the many bigots I see posting here(but never admit that they’re bigots)

Riley didn’t have to jump very high, only about a foot off the ground but nice timing on the catch.

heck com’on man, Coop has turned into a first rate receiver and to make that catch when most would have let the pass go shows ,heart and ability as far as the height of his jump, who cares ,he caught it one handed and did while making some awesome moves, thumbs up riley, I named my damn dog after you and he is just as cool!

He is 6’3″ jumped 18-24″ vertical and had his arm fully extended. that puts the ball 10-11′ in the air. I would say that was a hell of a catch.

You can say it was a hell of a bad throw, at that height. But for someone that’s 6’3″ with a fully extended arm, it’s still only about a foot of a jump. Basically you’re saying it’s impressive that LeBron James can dunk at all, given that the hoop is about 11 feet high. Cmon, man.

I can’t wait to see this team with a healthy Jeremy Maclin as well as DJacc and a clearly improved Cooper.

No guarantee you’ll ever see that, seeing as both Maclin and Cooper are both free agents.

You betcha, did you miss his completely unnecessary block in the back that negated about a 25 yard run for McCoy?

Funny that Roger’s in Green Bay hurt and he has no worry about being the starting QB when he returns, but Mike Vick got hurt, returned and got hurt trying to take one for the team and now he’s pretty much out of Philly. You media folks are such racist assholes it make me sick to my stomach.

There is a big difference between the pedigrees of Aaron Rodgers and Michael Vick. The depth chart was murky in Philly. The depth chart in Green Bay has always been as clear as the paint thinner you’ve been huffing.

Are you actually comparing Micheal Vick to Aaron Rodgers?

Mike Vick is not returning because Nick Foles is the better quarterback now. YOU are the racist trying to make it about his skin color not his poor on field performance.

Michael Vick may not have been “Great”…but his performance was hardly poor or worth the hate some of you have thrown towards him

    • JayC - Dec 2, 2013 at 9:35 AM

If you think it’s about race, then you are the racist. And a straight up ignorant douche racist at that.

Typical moron running around saying any criticism of a black is racism. Maybe someday you’ll grow up and see how really stupid that comment really is. When the day comes that one cannot discuss someone or be called racist, than we have really gone crazy. Mike Vick was basically saved by the Eagles, but his age and his body are not helping do the things he used to do. To say that that is a racist statement, would really show trotal lack of intelligence!

I may disagree with OP…but idiotic comments like yours are the problem. People like you are the kind that have no earthly clue about racism….sub-conscious discrimination…and the double standards that exist(especially when it comes to black Qbs). We saw it when McNabb was your QB….he was treated and spoken about as if he was Tavaris Jackson despite all the things he did for the franchise…and when Kolb was a bust Vick SAVED your team for a while also. The fact of the matter is black qbs are held on a shorter leash and have more to prove to be called “elite” in this league. Not that Vick is elite…but I highly doubt anyone would be calling for the backup QB if the backup Qb was some new black QB behind Foles. Whenever there’s a black Qb…the call for his replacement is almost…always white

Again I don’t agree with OP….but when you can have a fair and balanced discussion about these things is when these things can be discussed. Because it’s people like you who would say something bigoted but dismiss anyone that calls it out as bigoted. Racists these days hardly call themselves racist and sound just as dismissive as you do when speaking about blacks. Personally, I think Vick can succeed elsewhere and I also wish Foles the best

    • Matt S. - Dec 2, 2013 at 8:13 PM

Oh for what it’s worth Vick got his starting job in Philly because Kolb (a white quarterback) got injured. On field performance has nothing to do with race.
