Roob on Eagles D vs. Peyton: Hopefully it doesn’t get really ugly

Sep 23, 2013, 4:59 PM EDT

source: The eyes of the Philadelphia Eagles’ fanbase now turn to Denver as the Birds are set to take on Peyton Manning and the Broncos next weekend at Mile High Stadium.

CSN’s D-Gunn and Reuben Frank take an early look ahead at the matchup and Roob concludes about the Eagles defense vs. Manning-lead offense, “you just hope it doesn’t get really ugly.”

So at least he’s confident.

But Roob forgot another possibility. With the Broncos playing the Raiders tonight on Monday Night Football, there’s always the chance something bad happens to the Denver QB and he’s knocked out against the Eagles next week.

Maybe they’d have a chance then?

Hopefully it does get really ugly, so they break down and sign Kerry Rhodes.

I’m not confident they’d win even if Denver had a different QB (altitude counteracting the high-speed offense, cross-country travel, etc), so I’m rooting for Manning to stay healthy, because the Eagles playoff chances likely depend on the Broncos winning at Dallas week 5.

Then he can get injured. Preferably a tongue injury, so we aren’t subjected to his awful sales attempts for a while.

Realllly don’t understand why they haven’t even considered signing him. Better than anything we have right now not to mention the NFC East is terrible and one slight upgrade could possibly help them win the division.

Tim Tebow would have tooled this defense. I just hope the offense churns out a few touchdowns and makes that half of the game entertaining.

Remember when Terrel Davis ran all over us? Should be something like that.

Let’s hope the team packs many bottles of oxygen for our D. They’ll need it.
