THE MAN! Chase Utley Homers in First At-Bat of 2012

Jun 27, 2012, 8:45 PM EDT

Chase!
The long-awaited return of Chase Utley didn’t disappoint on Wednesday night, as the Citizens Bank Crowd welcomed #26 back while Dan Baker slowly announced him. It was a little disappointing not to hear Kashmir before that first at-bat, as Scott Franzke would point out, but the goosebumps came anyway. That was nothing compared to the rush that came next, as Utley belted a solo shot off of Pirates starter James McDonald.
We had the radio broadcast on for it, and Franzke and LA just nailed the call and its aftermath, including another Phillie ringing the bell…

Chase is still the man, but the Phillies’ MVP for the season to date kept the applause rolling with a homer of his own. It was just the second back-to-back set for the Phils this season. Unfortunately, the bullpen start night has so far yielded five six seven eight runs to the Buccos. The offense is doing its best to claw its way back though…

[Update: Phils lost 11-7. Utley went 3-5]
