It's official: The Philadelphia Flyers will meet the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Penguins will have the benefit of home-ice advantage.

It’s now official: the No. 5 Philadelphia Flyers will meet the No. 4 Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Pittsburgh’s 5-2 win over the New York Rangers has secured the Pens home-ice.

The series will start in Pittsburgh and potentially head back for Games 5 and 7, if necessary. Likewise, the Wells Fargo Center will go all orange for 3, 4 and — again, if necessary — 6.
The fact that absolutely nothing will be on the line makes the teams’ season finale this Saturday all the more…honestly, how do you expect that dynamic to play out?
