Are These Really the Top 10 Danny Briere Moments?

Some folks have been sharing their favorite Danny Briere Flyers memories in our comments section, and we thank you for that and encourage you to continue that discussion here if you like. Just promise us if you decide to make a list that a failed shootout attempt isn’t going to appear anywhere on it.

Philly.com set the tone for their slideshow entitled “Top 10 moments in Danny Briere’s career” with Briere’s penalty shot in the 2012 Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park – a shot Ranges goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped. Come again?

Briere lit the lamp 124 times in the regular season, and an additional 68 times in the postseason while wearing Orange & Black – that’s not even counting up plays he assisted. How on earth does a missed shot make for one of his all-time great plays in a Flyers uniform? Because it happened outdoors?

I assure you we are not making this up, either.

The list has a few other questionable choices and/or omissions in our view, which leads to the question: are these really the top 10 Danny Briere moments? Surely we can do better than this. For Danny.

What about the “offsides” goal against Pittsburgh in Game 1 of the most hellacious and entertaining playoff series in the last 10 years?

All the regular season points on this list can go bye bye. The guy is Mr. Playoffs.

    that’s a HORRIBLE list…..
should of cut it to top 5….and “of career” no buffalo moments?

I’ll remember him for being a beast in the playoffs..
and of course his flamboyant fist pump after goals…always added a “woooooooooooo (high pitched sound effect) when he did the pump…

    fairwell danny

When he patted Ryan Miller on the head, skating behind him in the crease after Coburn scored from the point in Game 7 against the Sabres, 2011 playoffs. I think Miller ended up getting chased that game, and Danny scored(?).

Briere’s shot by past Ryan Miller in Game 7 of the first round playoffs a couple of years back. Flyers win the game 5-2 & win the series against Buffalo.

Briere’s two goals got the Flyers into the playoffs (4-1 win) and elimanated the Habs from playoff contention last year.

SCF game 6 was another good one despite the outcome. That was the loudest I’ve ever heard the WFC . How can you not have anything from the 0-3 comeback against Boston though? What about the Pittsburgh series? The offsides goal in game 1 and the goal line dagger in game 6.

You must mean this goal, which broke Brian Propp’s all-time Flyers record for points in a playoff season.

That game six was so frustrating. Leighton lets in two bad goals, and both Briere and Carter missed open nets. If just one of those things doesn’t happen, who knows what game seven would have brought?

Ah I remember that. I don’t care that it was the 2nd period, I was so sure we were going to Game 7 when he scored that one.

Briere scoring the game winning shootout goal against the sabres in Buffalo to end a ten game losing streak during the regular season in 2008, completely turned the whole season around in my opinion
